PA SREC (SAEP) VALUES HINGE ON HB 2405
HOUSE VOTE ON TUESDAY 6-22 – CALL YOUR PA REP TODAY!
If you own a solar power system, or are considering a solar system, or if like most Americans, you are simply an advocate of solar power, PLEASE CALL YOUR PA HOUSE REP TODAY!
On Tuesday, the PA House will vote on HB 2405, which will materially increase the value of RECs of (Renewable Energy Credits) in Pennsylvania. RECs are tradable credits that provide a secondary cash flow to solar power system owners. As the popular and successful PA Sunshine Rebate program approaches full subscription, the Solar REC values will become even more critical in broad adoption of solar power in PA.
If you already own a residential system of 8 kW, for example, passage of 2405 would mean additional SREC payments to you of about $900 per year, based on our current SREC market analysis. If your system is a 200 kW commercial system, HB 2405 could mean an additional $22,000 per year in SREC payment direct to you!
It is not just about dollars for solar system owners, however. HB 2405 is an exemplary economic engine and a driver of jobs that is NOT funded by taxes. Click here for access to a detailed independent analysis of the Bill's potential impact.
In light of the great success of the PA Solar programs in general, and the catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico, it is hard to understand how a balanced and important bill like HB 2405 could be anything but a shoe-in. But there is organized opposition to the bill, mostly from the coal and oil industries who cannot see its "win-win" basis. Tuesday's vote will be close.
Your PA Rep could be the deciding vote. Your call TODAY, could be the tipping point. All we need is a simple and short call from you, expressing your support for HB 2405.
